ROCHESTER - Outdoor dining on a warm autumn day at Yo's Thai Street Food is a delicious experience ... and so is the food.

The newly opened eatery at the former location of Curlie's Comedy Club has already attracted a loyal clientele, and for good reason.

The staff are cordial, the service is brisk and the portions are plentiful.

And while plenty of restaurants have attractive alfresco dining throughout the downtown enjoying lunch from the porch at Yo's as you watch the Union Street traffic whiz by is among the better seats in town.

The food is all served in sturdy plastic containers that are great for home purposes, but lets to the food, itself.

Martha had the Gra Prao (chicken with fresh Basil), which came with chili paste, bell peppers and Thai basil served over jasmine rice. The bell peppers bring a wow flavor to the dish, which comes on a huge bed of the jasmine rice. The chicken was shredded to more than her liking, but the flavors spoke for themselves, winning her over.

I got the chicken Pad Thai, which is gluten free, with rice noodles, bean sprouts, scallions sauteed in a light blend of herbs topped with ground peanuts.

The Pad Thai brings an intoxicating flavor to one's palate which will have you eating more than is necessary. With the large portions however, you'll still have enough to take home for a snack at the very least.

Both dishes offer choice of protein including chicken, pork or beef as well as vegetarian. The Pad Thai chicken was not shredded by the way.

Both dishes were $13.95 apiece.

For a beverage try the Thai iced coffee for $3.50. One sip and you'll be hooked. You'll be looking for one on your way to work, but sorry, they don't open till 11 a.m.
