Wrong-way driver, with two kids in the car, arrested for DWI in Manchester

MANCHESTER - A Nashua man was arrested for reckless driving, aggravated DWI endangering the welfare of a child after he was spotted traveling northbound in the southbound lanes of Interstate 293 early Sunday morning..

Police got involved around 12:40 a.m., when they received reports of a silver sedan traveling the wrong way on Interstate 293 in Manchester in the area of exit 6, according to a Dept. of Safety press release.

As troopers from the Troop B and Troop D Barracks attempted to intercept the vehicle, another report was made that the wrong-way vehicle had made a U-Turn on the interstate at the Upper Split of 93/293 and was now traveling southbound. Troopers were still able to locate and stop the vehicle as it approached Exit 5 in Manchester.

The driver was identified as Sulma Canales Cabrera, 26, of Nashua. He was charged with reckless conduct, aggravated DWI, reckless driving and endangering the welfare of a child. Accompanying Cabrera in the vehicle at the time were two young children, 10 and 6.

Cabrera is scheduled to appear in the Superior Court in June. Anyone with information regarding this incident is being asked to contact Trooper Bryan Taylor at (603)223-4381 or Bryan.L.Taylor@dos.nh.gov.
