ROCHESTER - A city woman who earlier this month reportedly tried to steal some $500 in groceries from the North Main Street Hannaford was back at it again on Sunday. This time she was arrested.
Police got involved around 9:45 a.m. when the store's manager called dispatch to say that the woman was back and would likely be walking quickly out of the store as she had tried earlier in the month.
Armed with the woman's description police waited outside the store before taking her into custody.
The responding officer investigated and arrested the woman, charging her with theft, a class B misdemeanor, Rochester Police Public Information Officer Andrew Swanberry said on Tuesday.
Samantha Stetson, 38, of 5 Cold Spring Circle, #4, was released on personal recognizance bail and assigned an arraignment date next month.
There is no jail time for a Class B misdemeanor, but an individual arrested for shoplifting three times in less than two years can face three and a half to seven years in state prison.
