With the USFL and The Voice, they don't go woke and you don't go broke

If you want to watch pro football without all the woke nonsense, then the USFL is for you.

Plus they have some great new wrinkles like miked up quarterbacks so you can hear the play being called and helmet cams on running backs so when they get pile-drived by a stout middle linebacker, you can hear - and feel - the impact.

I can hear John Madden, himself, saying, "That's gonna leave a mark!"

No players taking a knee. No players raising a fist.

Just players happy to have a chance to live their dream, and that's what it's all about.

And tickets? $10 a pop, with kids free.

Maybe Rochester Economic Development Director Mike Scala can look into it. I mean, we got our microbrewery over at the Gonic Mill. Now I think it's time to go for a USFL team.

We could call 'em the Lilac City Sentinels. That's gotta ring.

What would you name them. Send us your thoughts! Post it as a comment on our website or our Facebook page.

Today's lone game is New Orleans Brakers at Tampa Bay Bandits at 3 p.m. on Peacock, NBC and fuboTV. Maybe Tom Brady will be taking it in?

I also wanted to alert our readers that the current subscription special that gives you a full year of access to The Rochester Voice for just $10 is NOT jut for new subscribers.

For instance, if you bought a full year of The Rochester Voice for the normal price of $70 before the special, you can still buy a year now for $10 and you'll automatically get another full year when your current subscription runs out.

Also, you can buy multiple years at the special $10 price, but you must do it separately. In other words, if you bought an annual $10 subscription today it would go till April 24, 2023. Then if you bought another one tomorrow, it would go from April 24, 2023 to April 2, 2024.

The special ends on April 30, so whatever you do, do it by then!
