Weekly Observer abruptly ceases publication

SANFORD, Maine - Acton and Lebanon residents who look for their Weekly Observer today will be disappointed when they don’t see it, but get used to it.

The newspaper that covered Sanford, Springvale, Acton and Lebanon ended its publication with last Friday’s edition, according to a brief email received by The Lebanon Voice on Wednesday.

Weekly Observer editor Jane Lord said ad revenue did not justify its continuation and the Current Publishing Co. will now concentrate its energy on five other weeklies and specialty publications the company publishes.
