ROCHESTER - Rochester City Councilor Rachel Lawrence on Tuesday stated her intent to resign from the Ward 2/Seat B position due to a new job opportunity.

With the acceptance of Lawrence's resignation, City Council will declare the seat vacant and appoint another member of the community to the, following an open interview process.

Qualified candidates will be invited to be interviewed during an upcoming City Council meeting. Candidates will have the opportunity to address Rochester residents and members of the Council. Once all candidates have been heard, City Council will vote to appoint a new member, effective immediately.

Any registered voter of Ward 2 interested in serving on the City Council is encouraged to submit a Statement of Interest form, which is available online and in the City Clerk's Office, by 9 a.m. on June 18.
