ROCHESTER - A Saturday recount of ballots in the Ward 4 Seat A City Council race resulted in a one-vote victory for David Walker over Chuck Grassie.
The two had tied in the Nov. 7 municipal election, 409-409.
The recount held at the James W. Foley Memorial Community Center resulted in Walker picking up one vote for a 410-409 victory.
In the event their race had remained a tie, the contest would have been decided by a bingo ball machine.
Ironically, Grassie defeated Walker earlier this year in a special election race for a state rep seat after they tied in the November 2022 election.
Two other races that had recounts on Saturday were the Ward 1 Seat A City Council race between Patricia Turner and Joshua Guptel that was won by Turner 345-326 and a Ward 6 Seat B school board race, which was won by Kelli Allen over Donna Ellis 246-242.
The new totals kept the respective winners intact with Turner besting Guptel 345-327 and Allen picking up two votes over Ellis, 248-242.
