Uplifting, energetic, positive in spirit, beautiful: Tributes pour in for Rochester mom

ROCHESTER - Tributes for a Rochester woman whose positive spirit and infectious energy touched everyone she met continue to pour in on social media today, nearly a week after she died in a horrific car crash in Berwick, Maine, early Saturday.
Ashanti Cox, 29, died when she was ejected from her 2020 Kia Telluride shortly before 4:45 a.m. after it left the roadway near the intersection of School Street (Route 9) and Old Sanford Road and struck a stand of trees, according to Berwick Police.
While her time was short, her impactful persona touched many and will not soon be forgotten, friends and acquaintances attest.
"I am forever grateful to have met such a positive and beautiful soul such as yours," Carmelita Smith of Somersworth wrote on her Facebook page. "May you Rest In Peace and watch over your baby girl from heaven."
"I will forever cherish our moments together, you are one real true friend," added James Brooks of Rochester. "I'll miss you and will always think about how funny and strong you were."
"Your uplifting laughter and personality will be greatly missed," echoed Tracie Kelleher.
While police say alcohol and speed are factors in the crash, a Go Fund Me page set up to raise funds for her family says the crash occurred when a deer jumped out in front of her SUV.
Cox, who leaves behind a four-year-old daughter, was pronounced dead at the scene.
Meanwhile, a Go Fund Me page set up to help the family has raised $8,060 of a $10,000 goal.
