WINDHAM - Two Bay State residents perished in a devastating Interstate 93 rollover that resulted in their vehicle rolling down an embankment and finally coming to a rest about 100 yards off the roadway.

The crash occurred a little before 5 a.m. today on I-93 South in the area of Exit 3 in Windham.

A State Police press release said it was found that the 2017 Jeep Grand Cherokee the pair were in had veered left to right across the highway before striking the guardrail and breaking through it. Police estimate the vehicle then rolled down an embankment and came to rest some 100 yards off the roadway.

Both occupants of the vehicle were ejected and sustained fatal injuries. They were identified as Lesley Martinez Velazquez, we, and Sasha Peralta, 31, both of Lawrence.

The Windham Fire Department and the Department of Transportation assisted the State Police on scene while the right two lanes were shut down for a lengthy period of time.

Police say speed and alcohol appear to be factors in the crash, however, all aspects remain under investigation and anyone who may have witnessed it is asked to contact Trooper Edward Perciballi at Edward.M.Perciballi@dos.nh.gov or 603-223-6172.
