TILTON - The driver of a tractor-trailer unit died early today when his rig failed to negotiate a turn on Intestate 93 and rolled over into the Winnipesaukee River.
The crash occurred around 1:50 a.m. on Interstate 93 southbound in the aea of mile marker 57.
A preliminary investigation revealed that the driver of the tractor trailer unit failed to negotiate a curve in the road, broke through the center median guardrail, traveled through the median and the embankment, across the railroad tracks and came to a final rest on its side in the Winnipesaukee River.
The driver's identity is being withheld at this time pending next of kin notification.
The left lane of Interstate 93 southbound by mile marker 57 remains closed at this time, and delays are to be expected in this area.
