The Greater Rochester area will be bracing for what could be the hottest day of the summer today with real-feel temperatures predicted around 105.
Lebanon Rescue is offering a cooling station for town residents at the Lebanon Municipal Offices, located at 15 Upper Guinea Road in Lebanon from 7 a.m. to 5 p.m.
Residents are urged to contact Chief Samantha Cole at (207) 608-5614 or Asst Chief Jason Cole at (207) 608-5615 to reserve a spot at the cooling station or if they need assistance with transportation.
In Rochester, a spokesman with the City Manager’s office said cooling stations will be available at the Rochester Library and in the City Council chambers at 31 Wakefield St.
The spokesman said that the city has seen little usage of the cooling stations during the current heat wave, but hoped residents would take advantage of them if they get too hot at home.
The high temperature in the area today is expected to hover around 100 degrees, according to meteorologists, but with the heat index which takes into account humidity and dew points, it’ll feel even hotter.
There is relief in sight, however. After a front that could produce severe thunderstoms moves through tomorrow, Sunday’s high should be in the 70s with lows Sunday night plunging into the 40s.
