2013 was an eventful year for The Lebanon Voice. The newspaper grew incredibly, not only in visitors, but in its coverage area. In June we began covering Rochester, where the overwhelming majority of Lebanon and Milton residents go to shop, bank and get stuck in nasty traffic.

If you’re from Boston or Lowell or Worcester and you feel homesick for rush hour traffic, just go through downtown Rochester on a Friday afternoon and you’ll feel much better.

I may head down there after I finish writing this column. Who knows?

Anyways, 2013 was a good year for news. It wasn’t all good, but then, it never is. Along the way, we tried to find some good stories, and we think we did. We will again this year.

Of course the two biggest achievements this year were moving to the new website powered by bondware.com, a newspaper platform developer; and increasing our coverage area to include Rochester.

It’s hard to believe that last year at this time we were getting about 200 visitors a day, and we thought that was fantastic. Now, with the inclusion of Rochester and the continued increase and development of our Lebanon and Milton base, we are close to 1,500 daily visitors. The newspaper’s Facebook portal has also grown exponentially. We are now “Liked” by more than 600 folks. (It seems like we waited forever to get from 450 to 500 “likes” and it’s only been a month and we went up more than 100!)

We are extremely thankful for the wonderful support and kind words – not to mention the news tips – provided by our readership. They are hugely important.

The Lebanon Voice expends a lot of money each and every month to maintain its website, pay for bandwidth, keep gas in newspaper vehicles and all the other expenses inherent to running a newspaper.

The Lebanon Voice continues its existence with the help of ad revenue and donations from its readers, who have been very kind in the past. If you’re not an advertiser but still want to contribute to quality, unbiased, objective journalism, we ask that you consider making a donation today using the Paypal “donate” button on the home page on the right (below the Quality Fuels ad). By the way, we don’t turn down small amounts! You can also mail a check or money order to: The Lebanon Voice, PO Box 1178, Milton, NH 03851.

Thank you so very much, and “Cheers!” Here’s to another great year in 2014.
