Storm wreaks havoc but here not so much

Wednesday’s powerful snowstorm may have left thousands without power in Pennsylvania and paralyzed domestic airline traffic throughout much of the East Coast, but locally things stayed pretty tranquil, according to area safety officials.

Milton Police Sgt. Evan Favorite said there were no major accidents during the storm.

“Most people are just staying home,” he said on Wednesday. “It’s been very quiet.”

Over in Rochester, a dispatcher reported late in the afternoon that they had had no accidents reported on area roadways.

Lebanon Fire Chief Skip Wood said much the same, reporting no serious accidents in Lebanon.

Rochester, Milton and Lebanon schools were all shut down.

Despite a stiff breeze at times in the afternoon, no power outages were reported.

Motorists appeared to be extra cautious along slickened roadways, indicating that after a half dozen snowstorms over the past two months, people can learn.
