ROCHESTER - City police confirmed Wednesday that the truck impounded in connection with a fatal bicycle accident in Rochester a week ago today is, in fact, the vehicle involved in the deadly hit-and-run.
Rochester police, however, have made no charges in the case, and the investigation is ongoing, said Rochester Police Gary Boudreau on Wednesday.
"We are following up on leads that we have developed," he said, noting that a person of interest police identified last week remains just that, and is still not considered a suspect.
Boudreau added that there are no other persons of interest in the case as of now.
The impounded truck, which in early reports was described as a green Dodge Ram pickup, was found in the area of New York Street in Dover, N.H.
Police said early on that the truck would have sustained significant front-end damage including a broken headlight in the crash.
Jeffrey Howarth, 51, was struck in the area of the southbound onramp at the intersection of Farmington Road and the Spaulding Turnpike early the morning of May 7. He had succumbed to his injuries before responders arrived.
Police said the truck was headed east from Farmington when the collision occurred.
