Soggy opening day did not dampen spirits as RABB opens another season

ROCHESTER - The Roger Allen Baseball family opened up another season on Saturday with a special ribbon cutting for their new $50,000 Danny Bushway Memorial Batting Cage.
On hand to help celebrate the occasion was longtime Roger Allen Baseball supporter and Korean War veteran Al Benton, who threw out the ceremonial first pitch.

Due to the rainy weather and wet fields no practices were scheduled by any of the teams, but coaches and players were chomping at the bit to get down to business, so expect practices to begin as soon as the fields dry up.

RABB President Scott Huff said the players from the 2022 Rockets were on hand for the ceremony because they were the reigning 12U Cooperstown team when the cages were completed.

Oakwood Builders built the $50,000 cage as a donation.

Earlier during team introductions, hundreds of parents, family and friends cheered as the squads lined the basepaths from first to third.
"We want to get practicing as soon as possible and get out and play ball!" said Huff after the opening day festivities.
T-ball and Rookie divisions, comprised of kids from 3-6, will have their opening day today, when the weather is supposed to be a little more pleasant than Saturday.
After throwing out a strong ceremonial first pitch, Benton talked to the crowd about the importance of Roger Allen Baseball and its unique and phenomenal success in building such a stunning facility that gives Rochester children a beautiful place to get out and play ball.
