ROCHESTER - A second fatal motorcycle accident in three days has claimed the life of another Rochester man.
Kenneth Meyers, 52, of Rochester, was killed in a collision with an SUV at the intersection of Tebbetts and Old Dover roads around 9:30 a.m. on Saturday.
Rochester Police, Fire and Frisbie EMS responded to the scene where they found a heavily damaged motorcycle, a 2006 Yamaha V Star, on the ground with Meyers lying beside it. Also in the roadway was a 2024 Hyundai Tuscon driven by Suzanne Pina, 73, of Rochester.
Meyers was transported to the hospital with life-threatening injuries. He was pronounced dead a short time later.
Pina was not injured.
Rochester Police Capt. Todd Pinkham confirmed today that Meyers was wearing a helmet and that the SUV had damage on its passenger side.
The intersection was shut down while emergency crews tended to the scene. The road was cleared 2:30 p.m.
Both vehicles were towed from the scene, and the Strafford County Technical Accident Reconstruction Team was called in to assist with the accident investigation.
The accident remains under investigation at this time.
Joseph Vachon, 32, of Rochester, died on Thursday when his bike crashed on River Road in Lebanon, Maine.
The York County Sheriff's Office was notified around 5:20 a.m. that a resident in the 300 block of River Road had discovered a crashed motorcycle and two individuals lying in an open field.
Upon arrival police discovered the body of Vachon beside a Harley Davidson motorcycle. He was declared deceased at the scene.
His passenger, Rhiannon Cooper-Boisvert, 26, of Milton, was transported by Lebanon Rescue to Portsmouth Regional Hospital, according to a YCSO press release, however a hospital spokesman on Friday said they had no record of her being there.
That Lebanon crash is being investigated by the York County Sheriff's Office with assistance from Windham Police (reconstruction) and the Maine State Police.
