School board races see ouster of incumbent who sparked ethics probe

ROCHESTER - In races for the Rochester Schools school board, Ward 6 seat A candidate Samantha Battis ousted incumbent Steven Cusumano, 400-258, while in Seat B Kelli Campbell got by Devon Christen, 391-244.
Cusumano was the school board member who sparked an ethics probe of former school board members Sandy Keans and Karen Stokes earlier this year.
Meanwhile, Katherine Anderson won her Ward 1 Seat B race handily over Will Fessenden, 611-432, while the other Ward 1 slot was won by Nick Bellows who was not challenged.
In Ward 2 the Seat A race saw a crowded field with Sue Horne winning with 342 votes followed by David Camere, 234; Keady Nugent, 165; and Shelley Back with 92 votes.
In Ward 3, Seat A went to Shauni McGowan, who was unopposed, while Seat B went to Matthew Pappas, who defeated Sarah Gentile, 400-256.
The Ward 4 races saw Seat A go to Jerry Gregoire, who bested Jeffery Phelps, 552-286; and Seat B go to Lisa Carlberg, who defeated James Connor, 515-338.
Meanwhile, Sam Oliver III defeated Tabitha Davis for the Ward 5 Seat A slot, 448-345, while the Seat B slot went to Erik White, who got by Joelle Bournel. 445-366.

And in an at-large contest, Anne Grassie edged out Gary Bryant 2,780-2,461.
