ROCHESTER - Rochester's 2025 Rain Barrel Program is now under way with a special offer for residents who want to pick up a rain barrel to collect rain to water gardens or wash cars.

With stormwater runoff a growing concern in developed areas with many impervious surfaces like roads, rooftops, and parking lots, this is an excellent way to help the environment, experts say. Residents can purchase a 60-gallon rain barrel for the discounted price of $90-$99 by visiting www.greatamericanrainbarrel.com/community/ and selecting "Rochester." The deadline to order is June 8 at midnight. Barrels will be available for pickup on June 21 from 9-11 a.m. at the Rochester Public Works Department located at 209 Chestnut Hill Road.

For those interested in creating their own stormwater solutions, DIY resources and fact sheets are available through Soak Up the Rain NH at www.soaknh.des.nh.gov.
