Sanford Police seeking to identify man seen at Dollar General stabbing

SANFORD, Maine - Sanford Police investigating a stabbing at the Midtown Mall Dollar General now say the incident may have been the result of an ongoing dispute between two men.
However, it remains unclear what the fight was about, or if any specific incident led up to it, according to detectives.
"We are actively seeking witnesses to the incident, and the unknown male seen on surveillance video ... may have an eye injury." a release sent out on Wednesday stated. Police would like to question him as he could provide crucial information to as to what led up to the stabbing.

Police responded to the report of a stabbing on Sunday around 10 p.m.
When they arrived they found a male victim identified as 59-year-old Robert Wilson who was was found on his knees with bystanders actively trying to control bleeding.
Wilson, of Sanford, was transported to Maine Medical Center in Portland for treatment of stab wounds to his back and left side.
The suspect is described as having long hair and was last seen wearing blue jeans, a backward-facing hat, and a multi-colored hooded sweatshirt (not tie-dye or camo). He was last seen heading north.
Police also confirmed on Wednesday that there is no evidence that the suspect stole a backpack from the scene as previously reported.
