SANFORD - A Sanford couple was arrested on meth and cocaine possession charges Thursday following a three-month undercover operation by state drug agents investigating meth trafficking in the region.

Agents arrested Brittany Avanzato, 25, and Christopher Rock, 30, as they were delivering 6.5 grams of meth at a Biddeford doughnut shop. A search of Avanzato's vehicle yielded 1.2 grams of cocaine base and an additional 3.5 grams of meth.

For the past three months agents have been investigating the sale of methamphetamine in Sanford with agents making a number of undercover purchases from the couple, a state police press release noted on Friday.

Avanzato and Rock were transported to the York County Jail. Bail was set at $10,000 cash on each of them pending their initial court appearances.

Assisting drug agents were State and Biddeford Police.
