ROCHESTER - Rochester Rec and Arena announced yesterday that the Senior Center will be closed for renovations this coming Monday through Friday.
The bathroom is being renovated to be ADA compliant, and the renovation process will be disruptive to programing. Rec officials said they will move most of the regularly scheduled programming to the Rec Center rooms. Programs will be held at their usual times in the following locations:
Conference Room 1:
- Senior Tech Support (Held in Conference Room 2 on 2/15)
- Senior Cribbage (Held in Conference Room 2 on 2/15)
- Senior Mobility - 1/26 and 2/9 only
- Senior Game Day
- 16+ Iyengar Yoga
- Senior Chair Yoga
- 16+ Kundalini Yoga
- Senior Mobility - 2/2 and 2/16 only
Conference Room 2:
- Senior Quilting and Crafting
- Mah Jongg
- Veterans' Time
Rec Center Hallway:
- Senior Breakfast
They are also unable to accommodate Bingo in the current schedule, so Bingo will be suspended until renovations are complete. This closure only affects programming held in the Senior Activity Center. Programming in the gym or at the Arena will continue as usual.
Rec officials expect renovations to wrap up on Feb. 16, but the public is asked to be aware that this is an estimation, and they may have to extend (or shorten!) closures as they get project updates.
In addition to the schedule changes, the public is reminded that there will be no Rec Programs in the gym Monday, Tuesday through Wednesday due to elections.
