Rochester man looking to help at crash scene seriously hurt when struck by car

EAST ROCHESTER - A Rochester man was seriously injured on Sunday night when he was struck by a vehicle while running to assist victims at the scene of a motor vehicle accident on Highland Street.

Rochester Police responded around 10:30 p.m. for a report of a motor vehicle accident involving a pedestrian.

During the investigation, it became apparent that a separate motor vehicle collision had occurred at the intersection of Davis Boulevard and Highland Street.

That prompted Daniel Rogers, 54, of Rochester, who was at a nearby business, to run toward the collision to check on the people involved. Rogers was in the roadway when he was struck by a 2004 Rav4 headed south on Highland Street and driven by Patricia Rozanski, 64, of Lebanon, Maine.

Rozanski was navigating through the traffic near the scene of the recent collision and unaware Rogers was in the roadway, police said.

Rogers was transported to Portsmouth Regional Hospital with serious, but non-life threatening injuries.
