Rochester man gets six months for three felonies and one misdemeanor, all DV

DOVER - A Rochester man who pleaded guilty to felony and misdemeanor stalking this week in Strafford Superior Court and two other felony DV counts including strangulation in Hillsborough Superior Court will spend just six months in jail for the four crimes he's admitted to.
The plea deal was worked out with prosecutors in both counties along with the public defender for John Ost, 30, with a last known address of Winter Street.
As part of the negotiated plea Ost's felony stalking charge drew a 2-4 year prison stint suspended for three years, while his misdemeanor charge got a 12-month sentence, also all suspended for three years.
Meanwhile, the felony strangulation and subsequent DV stalking charge out of Hillsborough got him two six-month sentences that run concurrent, according to Assistant Strafford Attorney Walter Ramos.
To run concurrent means the six months satisfies both sentences at the same time.
Three felonies and one misdemeanor A count could have drawn a maximum sentence of 22 years, according to New Hampshire statute.
