ROCHESTER - Rochester's number of current COVID-19 cases neared the century mark on Tuesday fueled in part by a worsening outbreak at the Studley Home, an elderly longterm care facility located on Eastern Avenue. The outbreak first surfaced on Nov. 19 with the announcement from DHHS that 19 residents and two staff had tested positive. That number swelled to 28 by Tuesday, though DHHS officials did not make available separate numbers of infections among staff and residents.

Locally, Rochester has 98 current cases, followed by Somersworth at 40, Dover at 38, Barrington at 18, Milton with 11, Farmington at eight and Strafford at nine.

However, even with the current surge, Rochester City Manager Blaine Cox said on Tuesday that there are no plans to reopen the city's Emergency Operations Center located in the City Hall Annex, which remained open for about six weeks as the pandemic ramped up in March.

Meanwhile, DHHS announced 772 new positive test results for COVID-19, for a daily PCR test positivity rate of 6.2 percent. The new cases comprise those identified on Tuesday as well as spillover from Saturday and Sunday. Some test results over the weekend are still being processed, according to DHHS.

Of those newly identified cases with complete information, there are 90 minors and 38 from Strafford County.

DHHS also announced two additional deaths related to COVID-19, both Granite Staters over 60.

There are currently 160 individuals hospitalized with COVID-19, more than any since the pandemic began.
