Rochester Chamber awards $1,000 scholarships to three graduating seniors

ROCHESTER - The Greater Rochester Chamber of Commerce announced this year's scholarship recipients on Tuesday.

The three recipients who each received a $1,000 scholarship award toward their future academic endeavors are Madelyn Gagnon of Spaulding High School, Stella Mitropoulos of Spaulding High School and Katelyn Whiteman of Somersworth High School.

Madelyn Gagnon is a graduate of Spaulding High School and plans to attend Johnson & Wales University in the fall to pursue a degree in Exercise Science. Upon graduating college, Maddy plans to further her education to obtain a Doctorate in Physical Therapy, and from there she plans to help others as a physical therapist.

Stella Mitropoulos is a graduate of Spaulding High School and will be attending Saint Anselm College in the fall to pursue a degree in Health Science on a pre-physical therapy track. Stella has a passion for health and wellness, particularly in physical therapy. Her goal is to become a licensed physical therapist with a concentration in neurology, working in a clinical or sports setting, helping patients regain mobility and improve their quality of life.

Katelyn Whiteman is a graduate of Somersworth High School and will be attending the University of New Hampshire in the fall to pursue a degree in Physics. She plans to further her education to achieve a doctorate in Astronomy. From there, she plans on working for NASA.
