DOVER - Road closures and parking restrictions for the annual Dover Turkey Trot 5K run/walk have been announced.
The event, organized by and benefitting the Garrison Elementary School Parent-Teacher Association, is set for Thanksgiving Day and is the final race of the 2022 Dover Race Series.
The following road closures will be in effect for next Thursday to accommodate the race, which begins at 8:30 a.m.
- From 8:20 to 8:35 a.m., Shaws Lane will be closed in both directions between Garrison Road and Tideview Drive to accommodate the start of the race;
- From 8:30 to 9:30 a.m., Garrison Road will be closed in the westerly direction at Morningside Drive, with traffic diverted through the Morningside neighborhood.
Between 8:30 and 9:30 a.m., motorists should expect additional delays or temporary street closures in the following locations:
- Back River Road and Garrison Road;
- Garrison Road and Shaws Lane;
- Back River Road and Spruce Lane;
- Mast Road and Spruce Lane;
- Linda Avenue, Riverdale Avenue and Morningside Drive.
Parking restrictions will be posted on Shaws Lane on the day of the event. Event parking will be available in the Shaws Lane parking lot, the upper field parking near Garrison and Back River roads, and the Morningside/Meridian/Shadow Drive neighborhoods.
