The Rochester Museum of Fine Arts announced the release of a new iOS mobile app, available now in the Apple App Store.

The app will assist visitors seeking more information about the art in the museum's permanent collection. According to RMFA co-founder Matt Wyatt, the app helps users locate information faster and easier than ever before.

"All the art in our collection is numbered on the wall, to the right of each piece," said Wyatt. "All you have to do is open the app, tap search, and enter the number of the piece you're interested in. The app then loads the information relevant to your search."

Previously, the RMFA offered similar access to art information on its website and on paper guides in the gallery. Although the physical copies will continue, the new and user-friendly mobile app aims to make information more accessible and easy to navigate.

In addition to the permanent collection, the home screen displays current exhibitions, an upcoming events calendar, and a news feed specifically for RMFA happenings. Wyatt says that users have the option to enable calendar reminders in order to stay on top of upcoming receptions and events.

"We want our patrons to know whenever something is happening," said Wyatt. "The app is a great place to see what's currently on view and what's coming up."

The app is available at no cost. To download, click here or search the Apple App Store for 'Rochester Museum of Fine Arts'. A macOS and Android version is in development and expected to be released in the next several months, if not sooner.

The RMFA is located within the James W. Foley Memorial Community Center at 150 Wakefield Street, Rochester, NH, behind Spaulding High School. Suite 135 is open Monday through Friday from 9am to 4pm. Visit www.rochestermfa.org to learn more.

The museum is sponsored by the City of Rochester, Rochester Main Street, Waterstone Properties Group, Bernier Insurance, Meredith Village Savings Bank, MacEdge, Lenharth Systems, and the Greater Rochester Chamber of Commerce.
