DOVER - A recent Covid outbreak among Riverside Rest Home residents is now taking its toll on staff.
According to a Wednesday memo sent out to staff and residents' families, and obtained by The Rochester Voice, 14 nursing home workers have tested positive for the virus and are isolating at home.
According to the memo written by Riverside Rest Home Infection Preventionist Chris Hamilton, the unit most affected by the outbreak is on mask-on protocols, and "traffic to the unit should be avoided unless necessary."
On Wednesday morning Rest Home Assistant Administrator Dee Brown said there were 15 residents with Covid, but no personnel affected, but tests later that day proved otherwise.
"Given the size and scope of the current outbreak surgical mask use in the facility is encouraged in general, and staff should be hypervigilant towards both the development of new symptoms among themselves and also towards any new signs/symptoms that are consistent with Covid among residents throughout the facility," Hamilton wrote.
The memo also urges employees and family members not to come to Riverside if they are experiencing any respiratory symptoms.
