ROCHESTER - Beginning Tuesday, June 1, the Rochester Public Library will be open for browsing without needing an appointment! Our hours will now be: Mon-Wed 9:00-8:00, Thur.-Fri 9:00-5:00
As NH vaccination rates go up and Covid-19 cases go down, we are returning to more normal library services. RPL to-Go, the Library's curbside service, will continue through the summer, and possibly longer.
Initially the Library will be open at half capacity. This shouldn't have any impact on patrons using the main or second floors of the Library, but it may impact families using the Children's Room. We will be as accommodating as we can for families, but this is the age group that doesn't yet have access to vaccinations, so we are erring on the side of caution.Still, we hope families will feel comfortable coming to the Library; the Children's Room is getting ready to start its Summer Reading Program on June 21st, and they have a number of outdoor programs planned.
Summer Reading Programs for Teens and Adults are also being planned.
Tech Help Returns
Tech Help appointments resume anyone needing help with Library related technology can call the Library to schedule an appointment.
New Check in Station
Beginning June 1, patrons will be able to check out books on all floors of the Library, including at the Reference Desk. This should minimize waiting in line at the often-busy Main Desk.
Teen Zone Display
YA Librarian, Donna, says: "Don't miss the display in the Teen Room Never Judge a Book by its Movie . Lots of YA books on display along with the movie. Oftentimes the book is so much better, but don't take our word for it. Come check them out for yourself."

Children's Room:
"The Children's Room will be sharing this summer's first StoryWalk® at the YMCA of Strafford County's Healthy Kids Day on Saturday, June 5th 11:00am-2:00pm. The event will be held at Camp Coney Pine located at 63 Lowell Street.
What is a STORYWALK®? Pages from a children's book are posted on signs and placed along a path. As you stroll down the trail, you are directed to the next page in the story. STORYWALK® encourages physical activity and fosters a child's interest in reading."
Friends of the Library Book Club
The Friends of the Library book group will meet on June 14th, to discuss the book Waking Up White by Debby Irving.
The Friends meet the second Monday of each month at 1 p.m. on the lawn next to the Ground Floor entrance to the Library. They will meet outside until it is possible to bring the group back inside the Library. .Everyone is welcome! Books are available for curbside pickup by calling 603-332-1428 ex. 2.
