ROCHESTER - Rochester's Department of Public Works announced recently that potential city water customers are invited to attend a public informational meeting regarding a major project that will make municipal water available to the Rt. 202A corridor.

According to the Director of City Services, Peter C. Nourse, municipal water will be brought from Washington Street through the Highfield Common development, down Bickford Road and to Route 202A where it will head west, terminating in the Crown Point Road area.

Residents on Bickford Road, along Rt. 202A, in Winkley Farms, and on Fiddlehead Lane will have the opportunity to tie into municipal water. Residents in the MTBE program in the Crown Point Road area will also be able to tie in.

Nourse said residents may have already been approached by sub-contractors of the general contractor.

"These sub-contractors may ask you questions regarding blasting and surveying, or they may be staking out survey points," said Nourse. "They include D and C Construction, K and S, Capital Rock, and Doucette Surveyors. They are all legitimate and part of this project. Blasting is anticipated as there is much ledge in the region."

Nourse encourages area residents to attend an upcoming informational meeting and promises to provide an overview of the project and answer any questions.

The meeting will be held on Jan. 25 at 7 p.m. in the Community Room, at the James W. Foley Memorial Community Center. For additional information and inquiries, contact the Department of Public Works at (603)332-4096.
