Police: Woman tried to return items she didn't buy

ROCHESTER - A Barrington woman was arrested on Christmas Eve in connection with an incident that occurred earlier in the month at Walmart when she allegedly tried to return items at the service desk immediately after taking them off store racks.

Miranda Guptill, 28, of 151 Roberts Road, Barrington, was charged with theft by deception, a Class B misdemeanor, stemming from the Dec. 14 incident.

Guptill was bailed on $2,500 Personal Recognizance and is scheduled to appear for arraignment next month in Rochester District Court.
