ROCHESTER - A Maine woman faces several charges after police say she sped recklessly down a Rochester street crammed with kids on Thursday.
Christine Belanger, 23, no street address given, of Acton was charged with reckless operation, operating after suspension, misuse of plates and unregistered motor vehicle.
According to a press release, detectives spotted a vehicle heading down Lafayette Street that took a left on to Moors Court at a high rate of speed. The street was filled with many pedestrians including dozens of children.
The detectives recognized the driver as a female that they had just dealt with a week earlier and knew that she did not have a valid license.
The female was driving so fast that parents had to pull their children out of the roadway to prevent them from being struck by the vehicle.
Detectives located the vehicle and arrested Belanger.
She was bailed on $5,000 personal recognizance with a court date set for next month.
