ROCHESTER - Rochester Police are on the lookout for a man said to have tried to grab a middle-school aged girl walking to school this morning on Chestnut Street.

Police learned of the incident a little after 7 a.m., and say the student was not harmed and managed to run away.

When she arrived at her school she reported it to school authorities and the School Resource Officer.

Police say the girl was in the area of the Rochester Fairgrounds when an older male, possibly in his 60s, tried grabbing a hold of her waist while near some bushes by a fence line.

The male is described as older and thin with wrinkly skin on his face and arms. He is also said to have scabby skin with open sores on his arms. The man was wearing a traditional bandanna-style dark face covering, and had a gray beard that came out from under the face covering.

Police are asking that anyone who lives in the area or was in the area between 7 and 7:30 a.m. that may have seen or heard anything related to the incident to call them at 603-330-7128.
