ROCHESTER - Rochester Police said on Thursday they continue to investigate three shootings that occurred in the city on three successive nights last weekend.

The first incident took place last Friday on Orchard Street when a man was shot in the hand by a BB gun while talking on a cellphone in his driveway.

The victim told police the projectile came from the vicinity of the railroad tracks.

"We responded to the area and located some people in the woods," Pinkham said. "One male did admit to having a BB gun and admitted to shooting at trash cans," however Pinkham said it did not appear that the victim was an intended target.

The Saturday gun incident, which Pinkham said does not appear to be related, occurred around 7:20 a.m. when a woman called police to say it appeared her vehicle's back window had been shot out by a BB gun pellet.

The last of the three reported weekend shootings was called in around 2:55 a.m. Sunday morning from a Winter Street woman who said someone had just driven by her house and was shooting guns.

Again thought to be unrelated, Pinkham said, "there was no property damage or evidence of anything being fired" in the Sunday incident.

"It could have been a firework," he said.

All three shooting probes are still under investigation, Pinkham added.
