ROCHESTER - Police have made no announcement on what may have been the cause of today's fatal crash on North Main Street that claimed the life of an East Rochester man, but they are looking into whether speed or impairment may have been involved, a police spokesman said today.

"Whether or not speed and/or impairment were involved are still being looked into as part of the investigation," said Rochester Police Capt. Todd Pinkham, who also noted the driver was not wearing a seat belt.

The crash occurred around 3:25 a.m. in the area of Maple Street when a preliminary investigation revealed that a 2012 Jeep Rubicon was traveling south on North Main Street when it veered across the northbound lane and rolled over after striking a parked 2001 Ford Escape.

The driver of the Jeep, Glenn L. Patch, 30, was transported to Frisbie Memorial Hospital where he was pronounced dead a short time later.

North Main Street was closed for about two hours during the investigation.

The crash remains under investigation.

Anyone who may have witnessed the crash is asked to call Rochester Police at 603-330-7128, case #20-36-AC.
