Police: Aggressive driving leads to crash that kills OOB man

SIDNEY, Maine - Maine State Police say an Old Orchard Beach man died on Thursday as a result of an aggressive driving crash on Interstate 95 in Sidney.

The crash occurred around 9:55 a.m when Brian Landry, 58, of Fairfield, was driving northbound in the passing lane and attempted to overtake another vehicle in the travel lane.

According to Dept. of Public Safety spokesperson Shannon Moss, Landry's car was cut off by a pickup truck driven by Miles Ranger, 52, of Old Orchard Beach.

Through investigation and interviews troopers determined that Ranger was driving aggressively while attempting to merge into the passing lane in front of Landry. The unsafe lane change resulted in contact between the two vehicles as the front of Landry's vehicle connected with the rear corner of Ranger's pickup truck, according to a press release.

This collision caused the pickup truck to lose control and roll over several times into the median. Ranger was not wearing his seat belt and was ejected from the vehicle. He was still conscious but in critical condition when emergency services arrived. Ranger was transported to a local hospital where he was pronounced dead.

Landry's vehicle sustained minor damage, but he was uninjured.
