One-day heat wave will bring dangerous heat, humidity

Sunday may have been the longest day of the year, but today is going to feel even longer with a one-day heat wave that will hit 90 and with high humidity feel like 98.

Safety officials urge caution for anyone doing any strenuous activity due to the possibility of heat exhaustion or heat stroke.

Accuweather predicts that temps will rise through the 70s and hit 80 by mid-morning, so any heavy lifting should be done by then.

By 1 p.m. it'll be in the high 80s on its way to a high of 90 by 3 p.m. when it will feel like 98.

City Manager Blaine Cox said City Hall and the Rochester Public Library are both available as cooling stations today during business hours..

Tonight's low will bring some relief, dropping back to the high 60s with showers in store for tomorrow with a more comfortable high of 80.

The rest of the work week will see highs only in the 70s prior to a warmup to the mid-80s this weekend.
