ROCHESTER - Nancyann B. Gile, of Rochester, died on Friday, January 3, 2014 at the Hyder Hospice House in Dover. Nancyann was married to Roy M. Gile for 41 years until his death in 2007.

She was born in Worcester, Mass., on Oct., 10, 1938, the daughter of Ruth (Davidson) and Bernard Bowley.

Nancy started working after graduation at the National Lead Co. She then turned to community service, working for the Central Vermont Community Action Council. Later she worked for the N.H. Public Defenders Program in both the Dover and Stratham offices.

After retirement, she began helping out at the Homemakers Health Services in Rochester, where she was chosen as volunteer of the year in 2008. Nancyann loved her crafts and made many items for the homemaker's Craft fairs.

Nancyann is survived by her children and stepchildren: her son, Jeffrey Wheeler and wife Linda of Rochester; her daughter, Melissa Osbourne and husband Richard of Rangeley, Maine; Wendell Gile and wife Linda; Sharon Talbert and husband Kenneth, both of Ocala, Fla.; Sandra Griffith and husband Rodney of Severn, Md.; Donald Gile of Waterbury, Vt. and David Gile and wife Yumiko of Merced, Calif.

In addition, Nancyann is survived by five sisters and one brother, 22 grandchildren, 38 great-grandchildren and several generations of nieces and nephews.

She was seldom seen without her lovable and faithful dog Missy and always enjoyed the company of her best friend, Elaine Tuttle and the ladies of her quilt/craft group.
