Nighttime work on Spaulding Turnpike expected to last about a week

CONCORD - Work on roadway milling and paving began on the Spaulding Turnpike began Thursday night and will continue about a week, according to state DOT officials.

The work being done currently is in the area of the Dover Toll Plaza.

Weather permitting, the work will be done between the hours of 7 p.m. and 6 a.m. with lane closures being utilized as needed during timeframes of lower traffic flow. The work will require temporary lane closures at night for at least one week.

Uniformed police officers will be used on the Northbound and Southbound barrels of the Spaulding Turnpike to control traffic during these operations. Motorists should exercise caution when driving through the construction zone.

The proposed work is part of the Dover/Rochester 29440 project. RS Audley, Inc of Bow is the prime contractor for the $23 million project, which is scheduled to be completed in June 2024.
