CONCORD, N.H. - Possession of marijuana could result in nothing more than a small fine if a bill passed by the house this week becomes law.
Under the bill anyone found with less than a half ounce would be subject to a fine of up to $100 first offense, $200 for a second and $500 for a third.
It's called House Bill 1631 and now moves on the Senate which has killed similar bills in the recent past.
Right now possession of any amount of marijuana is a Class A misdemeanor punishable by up to a year in county jail and a stiff fine.
New Hampshire is the only New England state in which marijuana possession in small amounts is a criminal offense.
