ROCHESTER - They say most of their menu comes right from their mother's kitchen where, as children growing up in Northern Mexico, they would watch her cook on their wood-fired stove.
Now they've turned that knowledge into a thriving chain of Mexican restaurants, including their latest to open in downtown Rochester.
Cinco de Mayo's 'Cantina first opened in Dover in 2014 when brothers Crescencio Tellez and Miguel Alberto Tellez, who had previously worked at Mexican restaurants, decided to go into business for themselves.

Soon after they shortened the name to Cinco's Cantina and not long after that opened another one in Epping.
They opened their downtown Rochester location at 22 South Main St. on Aug. 30.
The restaurant, which takes up the entire first floor in what was the former Rochester Bank and Trust building, is expansive with high ceilings, comfy tables and booths and a full bar.
Huge plate glass windows facing South Main Street provide a pleasant view of folks driving and walking by while the windows, themselves, are adorned with brightly colored stenciling.
The décor may be modern, but the brothers say their food is old school.
"The big thing we focus on is that our menu is authentic Mexican," said Miguel Tellez.
Comprising the entire first floor of the former bank, the restaurant can seat about 180, enabling them to cater to large and small functions.
The menu offers a huge variety of interesting dishes, but one they are most proud of is their El Tellez, named after the brothers, "a Tellez family favorite." It includes sliced rib-eye grilled with tomatoes, onions, jalapenos and a touch of cilantro and comes with rice and beans and a guacamole salad for $19.99.
Speaking of bargains, they have daily specials all week, including Taco Tuesday when they offer three tacos for just $7.50. Like many Mexican restaurants, the dining experience starts with a helping of homemade nachos and salsa.
Cocktail offerings include a wide array of margaritas, including a cucumber margarita.
"The mojitos here are also very popular," Miguel Tellez added.
