Motorist killed in head-on Spaulding crash into tractor trailer

DOVER - One motorist was killed and another injured on Monday when a tractor trailer headed southbound on the Spaulding Turnpike veered across the median and into the northbound lanes where it collided head-on with another vehicle.
The crash occurred around 2:35 p.m. in the area of mile marker 6.4 in Dover.
Upon arrival police determined that the tractor-trailer was traveling southbound on Route 16 when it went off the roadway to the left, went over the guardrail and into the northbound travel lane of Route 16 where it collided with a 2022 Acura and a 2016 Honda Accord.
Another vehicle crashed into the guardrail in an attempt to avoid a collision with the tractor-trailer.
As a result of the crash, the operator of the Acura sustained fatal injuries, and the operator of the Honda sustained minor injuries.

The operator of the tractor trailer was identified as Pedro Ivan Ortiz Andino, 29, of Fitchburg, Mass.
The Collision Analysis and Reconstruction (C.A.R.) Unit responded to the scene and assumed the lead of the investigation.
