Accordionist Sredzienski set for MMRG annual fete

Moose Mountains Regional Greenways will hold its 2014 Annual Meeting on Monday, February 3, from 6 to 9 pm at the Inn on Main in Wolfeboro, NH.  This festive occasion will celebrate MMRG becoming a land trust. A cocktail/social hour and silent auction will be followed by dinner, award presentation, brief business meeting, update on MMRG news, and a performance by accordionist Gary Sredzienski. The snow date is February 4.

The silent auction serves as entertainment and fundraiser, with proceeds supporting MMRG’s land conservation and educational outreach work. All auction items are generously donated by area businesses and individuals. This year’s selection includes a pair of hand-crafted Shaker stools and hanging wall cabinet, a private shooting lesson, an overnight stay at the Governor’s Inn, a vacation rental on Lovell Lake, a Trager massage session, a variety of gift certificates, art pieces, nature books, and other items too numerous to mention. If you have an auction item to offer, please contact Executive Director Virginia Long; contact information is given below.

To add to the celebratory atmosphere, MMRG has invited NH musical and cultural treasure Gary Sredzienski (www.garysred.com).  Sredzienski is volunteer host of Polka Party, a weekly radio show on WUNH, and is known for his winter charity swims in the Portsmouth area. He will play traditional music on several different accordions, entertain with his enthusiastic patter, and lead some sing-a-longs.

The venue at the Inn on Main is a spacious traditionally-renovated post and beam barn from the 1800s. The Inn’s three course dinner includes a salad, a choice of chicken or gluten free vegetarian entrée with sides, and a dessert for a cost of $29 per person. Most dietary constraints can be accommodated if arranged in advance.

The public is invited to join this annual community celebration of Moose Mountains Regional Greenways. Spaces are limited and RSVP’s are required; to reserve a place please contact Virginia Long by Monday, January 27. Call (603) 473-2020, email info@mmrg.info, or mail your check to MMRG, PO Box 191, Union, NH 03887; Attn: Dinner.

MMRG would like to thank our business co-sponsors, Coyote Creek Outfitters and Ransmeier & Spellman, PC. Their donations will go towards MMRG’s Campaign to Become a Land Trust and will be matched.

MMRG works to conserve and connect important water resources, farm and forest lands, wildlife habitats, and recreational land in Brookfield, Farmington, Middleton, Milton, New Durham, Wakefield, and Wolfeboro. Throughout the year, MMRG offers many educational opportunities to inform all ages about the benefits of our region’s natural resources. For more information, visit www.mmrg.info.
