MILTON - More than 210 raffle calendars have already sold to folks ready to spend $10 for a chance to win a prize on any given day in August. The raffle calendars are part of a new fund-raising effort by Milton Fire & Rescue, with proceeds going towards the proposed new Fire Station.

Prizes, generously donated by local businesses and individuals, include firewood, gift certificates to various area restaurants, a pair of one day passes to Six Flags Magic Mountain, gift cards at stores such as Cameron’s or Coyote Creek, 10 pounds of blueberries, a pair of vouchers to a Manchester Monarchs hockey game, certificates for services such as a heating system cleaning or car wash and wax, and a cash purse of $100 on the final day of Aug. 31. The raffle calendars, designed for free by a supporter of Milton Fire-Rescue, gives the details of all prizes and donors along with pictures of Milton Fire & Rescue personnel and the proposed Fire Station. All raffle numbers will be entered in every drawing, regardless of whether a number has already won.

Fire Department personnel are engaged in a friendly competition to see who can sell the most raffle calendars, with an excellent success rate to date. Fire Chief Nick Marique says “Calendar sales are going great. We had another 250 printed on top of the original 400. We have already deposited $2,100, making this our most lucrative fund-raiser ever! One of the purposes of this fund-raiser is to keep the proposed Fire Station in the public eye.  We hope the townspeople will also notice that we are doing our part to raise money for it.”

Raffle calendars may be purchased from Fire and Rescue members from 6 a.m.-6 p.m. at the Central Fire Station on Route 125 in Milton as long as winning tickets continue to be drawn. One winning ticket will be pulled each day in August.
