SKOWHEGAN, Maine - A Massachusetts man was charged with murder in the Saturday death of a 20-year old Skowhegan woman.
Skowhegan Police responded to a 911 call around 5:40 a.m. from a male reporting an assault at 912 Canaan Road.
When officers arrived they found the male who called suffering from a head injury, according to a Maine State Police press release. The injured man, who is from Madison, was staying overnight on the property with his friend, 20-year-old Alice Abbott of Skowhegan who lived there with her parents.
Officers also located Abbott deceased on the property. Her male friend was later transported to Reddington-Fairview General hospital in Skowhegan where he was treated and released.
Maine State Police Detectives and Evidence Technicians worked throughout the day Saturday conducting interviews and investigating the circumstances of Abbott's death.
Around 3:20 p.m. State Police Detectives arrested 19-year-old Jason Servil of Massachusetts, who was an acquaintance of Abbott and also staying at the property. Servil was charged with murder in Abbott's death and transported to the Somerset County Jail.
Earlier on Sunday the Office of Chief Medical Examiner in Augusta conducted an autopsy and ruled the death a homicide.
