Mass. fentanyl trafficker gets 15-30 years in 2016 overdose death of Rochester man

CONCORD - A Massachusetts man was sentenced to 15-30 years in prison on Thursday in the 2016 fentanyl overdose death of a Rochester man.

The sentence was imposed on Viterbo Enrique-Minaya, 34, of Lawrence, Mass., after he pleaded guilty in the death of Brandon Laurion, 30.

On Oct. 30, 2016, Laurion and his girlfriend, Sarah Quint, arranged to purchase drugs through Robert Brochu and Amber Nicholson, according to a press release from the state Attorney Generals office.

Nicholson subsequently purchased fentanyl from Minaya in Lawrence and then returned to Rochester, where the drugs were given to Brochu, who then distributed them to Quint and Laurion.

Laurion was found dead early the next morning, with the cause of death determined to be acute fentanyl intoxication.

Brochu, Nicholson, and Quint, have all previously pleaded guilty for their respective roles in Laurion's death.

The investigation and prosecution was the result of a joint investigation and collaboration by the Rochester Police Department, the United States Drug Enforcement Administration, and the Massachusetts State Police with the assistance of the New Hampshire Department of Justice's Drug Prosecution Unit.
