DOVER - The Timothy Verrill double murder retrial continued on Wednesday with a witness for the prosecution saying she became frantic when she couldn't get a hold of one of the victims by phone on Friday afternoon, Jan. 27, 2017, because "she always picks up for me," she testified.
Kat Bradstreet told the court the two had planned to go sledding over the weekend.
Verrill, 41, is charged in the Jan. 27, 2017, killing of Bradstreet's longtime friend Christine Sullivan, 48, and Jenna Pellegrini, 32, of Barrington. Both were found dead of multiple stab wounds, according to a coroner's report.
Bradstreet said she first tried to call Sullivan around 4:45 p.m. that Friday and soon after called Sullivan's boyfriend, Dean Smoronk, a convicted drug dealer who was living in Florida.
Smoronk was the owner of the house at 979 Meaderboro Road in Farmington where the murders occurred early Jan. 27, 2017.

Bradstreet said she then began a series of test messages to Sullivan to no avail and later in the evening texted Smoronk, "Still no Christine" to which Smoronk texted back, "Fuck."
Bradstreet, under questioning from Assistant Attorney General Peter Hinckley, testified she also got a hold of Verrill that Friday afternoon to ask about Sullivan's whereabouts.
"He said he couldn't get in the house to check on her because his thumbprint wouldn't work," she testified, adding that they had a security lock on the door that didn't allow entry unless it recognized your thumbprint.
She said Verrill later told her he went back to the house, didn't see her though the window, but saw her purse and car were still there and "freaked out" and left.
Asked about the relationship between Sullivan and Smoronk, Bradstreet testified there was lots of fighting, lots of nasty texts.
She said Smoronk would often say in her presence, "Sometimes I want to kill her."
"I didn't take it serious," Bradstreet said, then added. "I hoped it wouldn't happen."
She said in more recent years she remained close with Sullivan, but rarely went to her Farmington home because of the types of people that were often there.
She testified that many of them, including Smoronk, made her feel "uncomfortable."
"Did Timothy Verrill make you feel uncomfortable?" Hinckley asked.
"No, Timin (his nickname) was my friend," she said.
When Hinckley asked her to identify Verrill she looked over in his direction and flashed a brief smile which he returned.
While talking about her close friendship with Sullivan, however, she often choked back tears as she recounted their relationship, which included fun times going camping and boating.
No testimony is scheduled for today.
