SANFORD, Maine - The manhunt for a convicted felon who stabbed the mother of his child as well as a Sanford Police officer has ended with his arrest in Massachusetts on Monday.
Christopher William Gonyer, 40, fled the Biddeford probation office on Nov. 4 and apparently had moved to the Bay State where he was working at a flooring job in Cambridge.
After Sanford Police learned of Gonyer's whereabouts, they contacted Cambridge Police on Monday. Around 3:15 p.m., detectives from the Cambridge Police Department went to a location in Cambridge given to them by Sanford Police where Gonyer was arrested without incident shortly after showing up for work.
Gonyer was also found to be in possession of heroin and is facing additional charges in Massachusetts for drug possession.
According to a Sanford Police press release, all indications were that Gonyer had fled Maine to avoid detection and had no intention of turning himself in.
Gonyer was on probation for three counts of aggravated assault and assault on an officer stemming from a 2006 incident in which he stabbed the mother of his kids and a Sanford police officer.
