Man nabbed for reckless driving, going 124 mph on I-93

CANTERBURY - A Bethlehem man was arrested on Saturday after leading State Police on a chase that reached speeds of up to 124 mph.

A State Trooper go involved around 7:20 a.m. when they saw a silver 2016 Chevrolet Cruze without a rear license plate traveling north on Interstate-93 in Canterbury.

After the trooper initiated a traffic stop the vehicle increased its speed to 124 mph while passing vehicles in a reckless manner. The vehicle then took Exit 18 where the trooper attempted to stop the vehicle at the stop sign at the base of the off-ramp. The vehicle then sped away, passing a stopped vehicle on the right, running the stop sign.

A pursuit ensued during which the operator of the vehicle continued driving in a reckless manner before eventually stopping and fleeing on foot into a residence, according to a Dept. of Safety press release sent out on Saturday. The suspect, Steven Seaman, 22, of Bethlehem, was then taken into custody without further incident.

Seaman was charged with disobeying an officer, reckless conduct, unregistered vehicle, failure to display plates, and a stop sign violation. He was bailed on his own personal recognizance and is due to appear in Concord District Court
