DOVER - A Rochester man scheduled to be arraigned Thursday on a slew of horrific sexual assault and abuse charges involving a girl under the age of 16 was unable to show because he is being held in a Maine jail on similar charges.
Richard Crispin, 25, of 23 Salmon Falls Estates, is currently being held at York County Jail on $50,000 cash bail, a jail spokesman said on Friday.
The charges against him in Maine are for gross sexual assault, a Class A felony that carries a minimum 25-year sentence.
Crispin was also recently indicted in Strafford County on a series of sex abuse charges involving a girl under 16, alleging he created multiple images and videos of sex acts between the two from July 2019 to March 2021.
In all, some 38 indictments were filed against Crispin.
The most serious charges facing Crispin in New Hampshire include 11 counts of manufacturing child sex abuse images between July 2019 and March 2021 "in that he did knowing direct a visual representation of (victim) in sexually explicit conduct."
That conduct is alleged to have included stills and videos showing her genitals, and performing various sex acts on him or herself.
Each count carries a prison sentence of from 15-30 years.
Crispin is also charged with three counts of aggravated felonious sexual assault that allege between July 2019 and March 2021 he engaged in a pattern of sexual assault against the girl "by knowingly having sexual intercourse with (the victim) more than once over a period of more than two months but less than five years." Each of the three counts carry a hefty 10-30 year prison sentence.
Most of the other indictments accuse Crispin of sending the girl pictures of his genitals and of him masturbating.
He is also charged with indecent exposure for performing a sex act on himself "in the presence" of a toddler.
All of the sex assault or abuse indictments from Strafford County grand jurors indicate that the crimes were committed in Strafford County but do not specify a town.
Crispin was also indicted on three drug charges from April 7, 2021, for allegedly possessing ketamine, amphetamine, and methylenedioxy-methamphetamine, commonly known as ecstasy or molly, His home address on those filings show him residing at the York (Maine) County Jail. The drug indictments are for alleged crimes committed in Rochester.
Deputy Strafford County Attorney Emily C. Garod, who is prosecuting the case in New Hampshire, did not know when Crispin would be arraigned in Dover.
